Dil to Pagal hai was on TV today, it is one of my favourite movies...Nisha is the character that I like most and I believe it is one of Karisma Kapoor’s best performances. The hero’s best friend, the one who loves him to distraction but knows she can only be his best friend. Your heart bleeds for her, you feel her pain, her helplessness as she watches her friend fall for someone else.
Very poignant few lines from the song Chand ne kuch kaha...from the same movie...
Jis pe hum mar mite, usko pata bhi nahin
Kya gila hum kare, voh bewafa bhi nahin
Humne jo sun liya usne kaha bhi nahin
Ae dil zara sochkar, Pyar kar, o ho ho pyar kar
How many times in life do we come at crossroads where we have to let go. They say,
If you love something, let it go
If it comes back it is yours
If it does not, it never was...
Why is letting go the hardest thing??
Is it because we feel that no one will be able to fill the vacuum??...But Nature abhors a vacuum, doesn’t it??
Atleast that is what the film said, Nisha meets Ajay in the end... the vacuum left by Rahul is filled by Ajay... the film ends with hope...
As a rule we resist change, the reigning feeling is don’t rock the boat... We don’t want any change in the status quo... but at times a change in status quo is just what the doctor recommended. My favourite quote is “The status quo has changed” from the movie National Treasure... it is in our hands how we make sure the status quo changes in our favour!!!
Leaving you with the below quote from Voltaire,
Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her. But once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game.
On one of the recent sundays, I saw a movie by Woody Allen. Match Point it was called. They just picked up a thought and wove an entire story around it. The thought was the extent of role luck plays in our lives. This piece by you is such a thought. With the right characters and situations, it can actually become a full fledged story.
ReplyDelete@ Nav...thanks, you actually hit bulls eye, I wrote this post just to capture the thought :)
ReplyDeleteIt is an honour to have such a sensitive audience.
ek goan mein ek kissan raghu thatha...

so, here's my million dollar tippani...on Voltaire's quote:
"Life isnt n can never be a zero sum game. It isnt abt how u play ur cards to win...Life is about how u enjoy it even with a weak deck!"
Sorry Voltaire Sahab...lekin control nahi hotha na:):)

ReplyDeleteLove is always in the air, people fall in love through out the year... it is more common than the common cold.

P.S: Alt + C ed from Vin's comemnt page...
Nicely put. I think the best way to find love is to STOP looking for it.
ReplyDelete@ Tarun: can't believe u all philosophical.
ReplyDelete@ Sen: Personally didnt like the movie, losing is all part of the winning game. If you haven't lost, you will never know when you have actually won.
@ Lancelot ... that solves the mystery of the long pauses, that Vajpayee invaribly had in his speeches :)
ReplyDelete@ Tarun... finally you have condescended to comment on my blog :P
ReplyDeleteYeah love is like a butterfly, if you try to catch it...it will go away from you... but if you stay motionless it will come and sit on your arm :)
@ LV... :P its OK, I forgive you for not liking the movie :)... just kidding...
ReplyDeleteTo love and lose is better than to never have loved at all is my motto...
@ Sen
ReplyDeletewe are not the reason for that - we only write poems for him if he cannot speak it as properly as us..what can we do...its too sad that we don't get students who match our caliber 8sigh*
@ lancelot...yeah yeah... you can't take credit for only the good.. .you got to take brickbats for the bad as well :P
ReplyDeletenicely written
ReplyDelete@ moi...thanks for stopping by...
ReplyDelete@ Sen
ReplyDeletewhat our fore fathers have said...take only the good and leave the evil :P
@ Senorita: Though am not too fond of Yash Raj or Karan Johar flicks... but I get the point you say... I am still looking out for someone to fill in the void.... but no matter how good a person we meet... we tend to compare it to that special someone and that's when we blow it off! And god always deals me 3 cards.... how do I explain to him that the only card game I know how to play is 'Solitaire'... :)
ReplyDeletePS: Loved Diane Kruger in National Treasure, especially when she says "So you lost the key, did Bigfoot take it?" :-D I was LMAO reading your response to Kartik.... good one! :)
@ Lancelot... :P
ReplyDelete@ AT...yeah, aren't we all...agree the comparison bit always wreck it :)
Kartik is from Chennai...poor baby, does not understand much hindi, though he strives real hard :)
@ Senorita:
ReplyDeleteAnd yet here u are making fun of the poor chap!!! :) Waise I had been blessed by such entertaining roomies as well! Here are 2 of my fav. instances..
In college, we all returned after watching Don, and all were just saying there fav. dialogues for fun.. like Don ka intezar to 11 mulkon... etc. And when the turn comes up for my Bengali roomie whose Hindi is majorly fucked up, he says "Don Ki Dushman Ka sabse bada galti hai, ki wo Don Ki dushman aei" lolzz We still call him "Don Ki Dushman... kamini" for fun!!!! ROFL!!
And the next one was by my current flat mate... he is a southie... so one evening I return from office (mind already fucked up from coding) and he says "Char for a movie?" and am like "CHAR?? Character for a movie?? What does that mean??" And he says "No Man... C.A.R.E... Char for a movie"!! :) :) :)
